Scholarship & Bursary Program

Fostering education, diversity and inclusion to support strong, healthy communities of tomorrow.

At Nova Scotia Power, we’re proud to invest in the communities where we live and work. Providing opportunities to learn and grow is essential to developing an empowered workforce that will help to build the strong, healthy communities of tomorrow.

Applications are now closed for our 2019 Scholarship & Bursary Program.

Our program and categories have been revised this year to better reflect Nova Scotia Power’s focus on diversity and inclusion, ensuring we are doing what we can to eliminate barriers in our schools and workplaces.

We’re proud to provide these opportunities to empower community members to become future leaders. Deadline for scholarship applications is April 18, 2019 and deadline for bursary applications is May 31, 2019. Awards will be announced in June 2019.

Emerging Leaders Scholarships

Four $2,500 awards to students entering any year of a full time post-secondary education program in the areas of Power Engineering, Power Line Technician, Instrumentation Tech, Engineering, Technology, Business, Marketing & Communications, Environmental Sciences or Law.

Women in Trades, Engineering, Technology & Innovation Scholarships

Six $2,500 awards to female students entering any year of a full time post-secondary education program in Trades or in the areas of Engineering, Technology and Innovation.

African Nova Scotian Scholarships

Four $2,500 awards to African Nova Scotian students entering any year of a full time post-secondary education program in the areas of Power Engineering, Power Line Technician, Instrumentation Tech, Engineering, Technology, Business, Marketing & Communications, Environmental Sciences or Law.

Nova Scotia Power Family Scholarships

 Ten $1,500 awards to children/dependents of employees or retirees of Nova Scotia Power. These awards are  available to students entering any year of a full time post-secondary education program.

Mi’kmaq Bursaries

Four $1,000 awards are available to Mi’kmaw students entering any year of a full time post-secondary education program in Power Engineering, Power Line Technician, Instrumentation Tech, Engineering, Finance, Technology, Business, Marketing & Communication, Environmental Sciences or Law. Past recipient winners can re-apply each year.
