What you’ll need to get started as a new customer:
- A valid phone number: This is used to report and check any outages.
- Email address for billing: You’ll receive a notification in your inbox advising your bill is ready for viewing. Log into your MyAccount to view bills and track your usage.
- New home address: The full-service address, including the apartment or unit number.
- Date of move: The day you move in.
- Names of anyone who you want to have access to the account: To find the amount owing, update changes to the account, or to set up payment arrangements, the person needs to have permission on the account.
- Emergency contact name and phone number
NOTE: All new customers must complete an ID verification. For those applying online, you will be asked to provide consent for Equifax Identity Verification and Credit Check to see if a security deposit is required. Customers who do not consent to using Equifax will be asked to email the following to id@nspower.ca: two pieces of government ID; one government and another with a photo (e.g. passport, student ID, drivers’
licence).
Without a passing credit check or providing a credit reference letter from a previous utility, you will need to pay a security deposit of up to three months of service. Your security deposit is held for two years of perfect payment history or until the
power is stopped, and your account is closed.
