Sarah MacDonald

Vice President, Human Resources, Emera Inc.; President and COO, Emera Utility Services

Sarah returned to Nova Scotia Power in October 2008, providing hands-on leadership in all aspects of Human Resources planning and execution.

Prior to joining Emera in 2001, Sarah worked in employment law, labour relations and human resources, primarily in the health care field. Sarah has played a key role in guiding Human Resources for our company over the last seven years, most recently as Vice President HR at our parent company, Emera Inc, where she maintains her role. Sarah is also President and Chief Operating Officer, Emera Utility Services (EUS).

Sarah graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1992 and received her MBA from St. Mary's University in 2002. She is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Human Resources Association of Nova Scotia and is a Certified Human Resources Professional.

Sarah is very active in her community. She serves as Chair of the IWK Health Centre's Centennial Committee, is a member of the Dalhousie Board of Governors and has served on the Board of Directors of the IWK Health Centre and Phoenix Youth Programs. She also coaches a youth girls' basketball team.
