Barbara joined Nova Scotia Power as General Manager Human Resources in April 2009. Her considerable experience and leadership capabilities help guide HR, Safety and Wellness strategies at this progressive Maritime utility which employs 1900 professionals throughout Nova Scotia.
Prior to taking on this role, Barbara was the National Director, HR for EastLink and, before that, spent 17 years on Canada’s “other” coast. Out west, she was Chief Human Resources Officer at BC Hydro in Vancouver and held increasingly senior HR positions with VanCity Credit Union, Westcoast Energy (now Spectra Energy) and Intrawest. She was also a partner at Western Management Consultants where her practice area focused on HR consulting in the public and private sectors.
A native of Nova Scotia, Barbara grew up in Halifax. She is active in the national HR community as a member of the Conference Board of Canada - Council of HR Executives (East), the Canadian Electricity Association - Senior HR Committee, and HRANS. She is also Certified HR Professional (CHRP).
