Vice President, Communications
Laura joined Nova Scotia Power in March 2018 as Vice President, Communications.
In her role, Laura is responsible for stewarding the brand and communications strategy. She leads the Communications team, which develops and executes internal and external communications initiatives for all parts of our business, while managing key strategic partnerships and community giving.
An accomplished marketing and sales professional, Laura has over 25 years of experience and proven results in building and marketing some of Canada’s favourite brands. She joins us from the IWK Foundation, where she served as Vice President, Philanthropy & Donor Experience, providing executive oversight for philanthropy, donor relations, marketing and communications. Before joining the IWK Foundation, Laura held executive marketing and sales roles with both Cineplex Entertainment and Empire Theatres from 2008 to 2016 where she focused on elevating the brand and guest experience. Prior to this Laura spent 10 years in senior brand marketing and customer roles with Coca-Cola Ltd. with both local and national oversight.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Commerce, with a major in Marketing, from Mount Allison University and a Bachelor of Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University.
Laura is a board member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Halifax. She is also a past advisory board member for the Ron Joyce Centre for Business at Mount Allison University and served a two-year term on the Federal Payments and Review Task Force representing Atlantic Canada in 2011-2012.
