Update: 99% of storm outages restored
HALIFAX – As of 11 AM, Nova Scotia Power has restored service to 99% of customers impacted by power outages that occurred during the storm that brought high winds across Nova Scotia Thursday night and into Friday morning. Fewer than 300 customers remain out from storm outages, as of 11 AM. Additional outages have occurred subsequent to the storm, and crews are working in communities across Nova Scotia to safely restore all customers as quickly as possible.
By 9:30 AM, crews had safely restored power to approximately 9,000 customers in the areas of Clayton Park, Bayer’s Lake, Lakeside, Ragged Lake, Beechville, and Timberlea who lost power around 3 AM this morning when a truck snagged overhead lines on Lakeside Park Drive and pulled them off poles.
Overnight winds exceeded 80 km/h in most areas of Nova Scotia and reached 108 km/h near Stanfield International Airport.
Customers can report outages via the Nova Scotia Power’s online outage map at outagemap.nspower.ca, which also has the most up-to-date information on outages and estimated restoration times. As well, customers can call 1-877-428-6004 to report outages or damage to electrical equipment.
