HALIFAX, NS – Shortly after 9 p.m. on January 6, Nova Scotia Power and contractor crews completed restoring power to the last of the 280,000 customers affected by the powerful storm that brought hurricane force winds to the province on Thursday and Friday.
“We thank our customers for their patience,” says Stephen Pothier, Nova Scotia Power’s Storm Lead. “And we are immensely grateful for the almost 500 power line technicians who have traveled from New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario to help restore power to our customers after this week’s powerful storm.”
At 9:21 p.m., Nova Scotia Power de-activated its Emergency Operations Centre, which opened at 8 p.m. on January 3 to coordinate storm response. This concludes a significant restoration effort undertaken by more than 1,000 frontline crews, damage assessors, planners, engineers, support staff, and customer care representatives.
Power crews continue to do regular work throughout the night restoring a small number of outages that have occurred today. Customers should continue to contact our Customer Care Centre at 1-877-428-6004 should they have any questions or concerns.
