Jim Eisenhauer thanked for service to Nova Scotia Power board

HALIFAX, NS – The Nova Scotia business leader who led Nova Scotia Power through its transition to renewable energy generation, is retiring from the utility’s board of directors.

Bob Hanf, President and CEO of Nova Scotia Power, thanked Jim Eisenhauer for his hard work and commitment over his years as both a board member and board chair.

“Jim’s leadership has been a great asset to Nova Scotia Power,” Mr. Hanf said. “Jim led Nova Scotia Power through its transition to renewable generation and most recently provided strong leadership as Nova Scotia Power worked towards its Rate Stabilization Plan. We have been very fortunate to have him, and we know the incoming board chair will build upon Jim’s achievements.”

Mr. Eisenhauer brought with him more than 30 years of business experience and community involvement when he first joined NSP’s Board of Directors in 2008. The third-generation engineer is also a dedicated community leader, father and grandfather, who places great value on social responsibility.

Mr. Eisenhauer is stepping aside from the Nova Scotia Power board to take on a greater role with the Emera board of directors. In addition to his capacity as an NSP board member, Mr. Eisenhauer, President and CEO of ABCO Group Limited of Lunenburg, has been a member of the Emera board since 2011, the same year he became chair of NSP’s board.

Nova Scotia Power is pleased to announce Scott Balfour joins the Nova Scotia Power board as chair, effective today, May 17.

Mr. Balfour is Chief Operating Officer, Northeast and Caribbean, of Emera Inc., Nova Scotia Power’s parent company. Prior to that, he was Emera’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Emera, Mr. Balfour served as President and Chief Financial Officer of Aecon Group Inc.

“Scott is an experienced executive and highly capable leader,” said Chris Huskilson, President and CEO of Emera Inc. “His experience will help guide Nova Scotia Power as we continue to transition to a lower carbon future, while providing stable, predictable rates for customers.”

In his present capacity with Emera, Mr. Balfour provides senior executive leadership for Emera’s operations, including Nova Scotia Power, Emera Energy, Emera Maine, Emera Caribbean, Emera Brunswick Pipeline, and Emera Utility Services.
