Nova Scotia Power crews continue work, at the ready for customers

HALIFAX – As last night’s winter storm brought high winds and heavy snowfall to communities throughout the province, Nova Scotia Power crews were on stand-by through the night and ready to respond if any customers lost power.

With no customers currently without power, crews are continuing with regular work to “storm harden” the electrical system and are at the ready for customers in case of any potential outages. This storm brought colder temperatures which means snow is less likely to stick and build up on trees and electrical equipment. However, high winds are always a concern when it comes to outages.

“We know our customers count on us every day, but especially when major weather hits the province,” says Paul Casey, Storm Lead and Senior Director of Transmission and Distribution. “We were prepared for the storm and thankfully saw very few outages. Crews continue with regular maintenance work today – such as trimming trees – to help prevent future outages.”

Nova Scotia Power keeps safety as the absolute top priority and encourages customers to do the same, especially during and after severe weather when road conditions can be hazardous.
