If there’s a power outage, these simple steps will help you determine if your home is ready for power when our crews arrive.

If your home is served by overhead power lines

• Visually check the metal pipe above your electric meter. This is called the service mast and it is part of your home wiring system. 
• If you see any damage to the service mast or to the case that surrounds your meter, contact a licensed electrician for a closer inspection and any necessary repairs. Our crews are not able to work on home wiring systems.

If you home is served by underground lines

• Visually check the metal meter case and the pipe that extends from your meter down into the ground. If you see any damage you may need to call a licensed electrician. 
• Be safe. Make your visual inspection carefully. Don’t touch any electrical equipment or lines around electrical equipment.
• If the service mast appears bent or loose, contact a licensed electrician for a closer inspection and any necessary repairs. Our crews are not able to work on home wiring systems.
