HALIFAX, NS – Power crews have been relentless in their efforts throughout the weekend to bring the power back on for customers after a winter storm hit the province. They are continuing throughout the night (Monday) so that more customers who are currently without power will awake to their power restored. As of 9:30PM this evening, approximately 900 Nova Scotia Power customers are without power from storm related damage.
At the peak of the storm, approximately 67,000 Nova Scotia Power customers lost power as snow and ice covered trees made contact with power lines, downed lines and broke poles.
The majority of the remaining outages are smaller area and individual customer outages of under 100 customers each. Customer Care representatives have been reaching out to hundreds of customers this evening who the company expected to have restored this evening. Crews will be working at full force to have them restored by Tuesday afternoon.

Customers still without power should also check their own equipment for damage. It is essential that customers who have damage to their service mast – the tube that connects the service line to their house to the electric meter – have that damage repaired by an electrical contractor. This equipment belongs to the customer, and Nova Scotia Power can’t restore power until the service mast is repaired.
