Fewer than 12,000 customers are currently without power in Nova Scotia as crews continue to focus efforts in the eastern part of the province and in Cape Breton.
A powerful wind and rainstorm swept the province for two days causing approximately 175,000 outages since 5 a.m. Monday. Nova Scotia Power crews had restored more than 162,000 customers by early Wednesday afternoon.
Customers in the western and central areas will have their power back by 11 p.m. today. The majority of customers in eastern Nova Scotia and in Cape Breton will have their power back by 11 a.m. Thursday.
Some individual and small pockets of outages may take until Friday to be restored. In some cases, customers may also need to undertake repairs to their properties before we can gain access and restore power.
