Nova Scotia Power restores vast majority of outages
HALIFAX, NS – Nova Scotia Power crews and contract crews have made great progress restoring power to customers impacted by the blizzard. To date, electricity has been restored to more than 97% of customers who lost power during a blizzard that first hit the province overnight Sunday.
As of 7 p.m., 1,700 customers who lost their electricity during the storm were still without electricity. An outage impacting about 1,200 customers in and around Ingonish is expected to be restored by 11 AM Wednesday. Some smaller outages will continue into Wednesday, particularly in areas where roads have not yet been plowed and remain impassable.
“There are still areas of the province that our crews cannot access because the roads still need to be plowed, but we will continue to work to safely restore power until every customer has their electricity back,” said NS Power Storm Lead Matt Drover. “We will directly contact customers who will not be restored tonight. We realize it is frustrating to have an extended outage and we appreciate our customers’ patience.”
As of 7 p.m., crews had restored electricity to more than 57,000 who lost power as a result of the blizzard.
