HALIFAX, NS - Nova Scotia Power is well-prepared to respond to Saturday’s forecasted storm and any impacts it may have on the electricity system.
“We have been monitoring this storm for days and putting our plans in place,” said Greg Blunden, EVP Customer Service, NS Power. “We have as many Nova Scotia Power and contract line crews available as we have had for any recent storm of this size. We have an experienced team ready to respond.”
The precise track of Hurricane Arthur is not yet certain, nor is the strength the storm will retain when it reaches Nova Scotia. However, there is a probability of winds gusting above 90 kilometres an hour, which can cause outages, predominantly by blowing trees and branches into power lines. Nova Scotia Power has had a focused program over the last five years to storm harden the system by upgrading equipment and trimming back trees along rights-of-way.
