How it works

Home battery storage is essentially a rechargeable battery for your home. The battery can be charged using an alternative energy source, like solar panels, or by the grid during off-peak times when a high amount of renewable energy is present. That energy is then released during times of peak demand, shifting your home's energy consumption and making your home's environmental footprint smaller. Home battery storage can also act as a backup power source for your home in the event of an outage.

Backup -  Assures power in the event of a grid outage. This scenario applies to the majority of homes in Nova Scotia today.

Time-of-use Day - Load shifting - Powerwall charge during low rate periods when demand for electricity is lower and discharge during more expensive rate periods when electricity demand is higher. Note: battery storage alone is not eligible for the time-of-use rate but your home can take advantage of the time-of-use rate if a thermal storage heating system is already installed in the home.Powerwall4
