The Carbon Disclosure Project is an international, independent, not-for-profit organization which maintains the largest database of corporate climate change information in the world.
Nova Scotia Power, through its parent company, Emera, voluntarily submits detailed climate change data to the Carbon Disclosure Project. We take part in this project because we want to be open about our climate change footprint and how we manage our environmental risks. The survey we complete as part of the project looks at direct emissions (what comes out of the stacks at our thermal generating stations) and indirect emissions (external energy purchases and vehicle emissions). The project works to offer a broad picture of everything a company does that contributes to climate change. Thousands of companies from around the world participate.
The Conference Board of Canada has recognized Emera again in 2011 as one of 15 Climate Disclosure Leaders in Canada based on its annual review of Carbon Disclosure Project submissions.
