As part of Nova Scotia Power’s Environmental Management System, we help external contractors who work with our company understand our environmental practices and risks.
We do this in a few different ways – when contractors first begin to work with our company, we have a discussion that’s specific to the project they’re working on. We talk about what environmental practices they need to be aware of and how they can follow them. We provide a Contractor Environmental Requirements booklet (PDF).
Our process is open – we are clear about our processes and our expectations of contractors who work with us. We track any environmental incidents involving contractors in our database just as we track incidents involving our own employees. This approach of formally bringing external contractors into our system is all part of our effort to be a well-managed company that takes a responsible approach to dealing with environmental practices and risks.
