Powerline Technicians, or PLTs as we call them, build and maintain overhead and underground electrical systems, ensuring that the power we generate can be safely and effectively delivered to Nova Scotians so that the lights are kept bright. PLTs respond to service calls and work in all kinds of weather, at all times of day or night. They are focused on safety at all times, are team players and work at heights.
We hire certified Powerline Technicians (PLTs) and apprentice PLTs.
A certified PLT has completed an intensive four-year apprenticeship and has passed the Interprovincial Red Seal examination.
An apprentice PLT is a PLT in training. They typically attend a pre-apprenticeship program at the Nova Scotia Community College then apply for a PLT apprentice position. We work together with the union (IBEW Local 1928) to provide apprentices with a safe work environment, mentored on-the-job training and financial support to ensure they become competent PLTs.
To be considered for these positions, watch for and apply directly to postings in under Current Opportunities.
