René represents Nova Scotia Power in all regulatory matters with the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board and other regulators.
Prior to joining NSPI in 2005 as regulatory counsel, René practiced labour law, education law, and administrative law with Patterson Palmer and as General Counsel with the Halifax Regional School Board. He was appointed to his current position in September 2007.
René graduated from Mount Allison University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1991. In 1994, he graduated from Dalhousie University Law School and was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1995.
René serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, and is past Chair of the Canadian Cancer Society National Board of Directors. He also served as member of the Board of Directors of the National Cancer Institute of Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Division.
