Peter was appointed Assistant General Counsel in April 2007. He is responsible for day-to-day legal matters for the Company. Prior to assuming this role, he was Senior Solicitor, Emera Inc., and Director of Government Relations for Emera.
Peter's experience at Emera included heading up the government and key stakeholder relations activities for several years, and recently leading the regulatory team developing the Brunswick Pipeline, a 145km natural gas transmission pipeline in southeast New Brunswick.
Peter is a graduate of Dalhousie University School of Business and the University of Toronto Law School. Peter practiced corporate and commercial law for several years in Toronto and Halifax before joining Emera in October 2001.
An active member of the community, Peter is the immediate Past Chair of the Board of the United Way of Halifax Region, where he also chaired the annual fundraising campaign in 2000 and 2001. Peter is a member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Canada . He is a past chair of the Board of Trustees of the Halifax Regional Library. He is also a past director and member of the executive committee of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce.
