Charitable or Non-Profit Organizations

The Domestic Service Tariff may be applied to businesses that qualify as a charitable or non-profit organization under Subsection 3 of Section 73 of the Public Utilities Act, R.S.N.S. 1989, c380, as amended.

Types of organizations eligible for charitable status are senior citizens clubs, service clubs, volunteer fire departments, Royal Canadian Legions, community halls, recreational facilities owned by a community and used for general community purposes, charitable organizations (having a registered charitable number) or religious institutions.

If you feel your organization could qualify as charitable under one of the above mentioned categories, please complete the two-page application form and either mail or fax the completed document to the address identified on page 2 of the application form.
